Reap What You Sew

The sun is shining, the air is clean and crisp. I started out my day with a cup of freshly ground coffee, that Diane made for me. We slept well last night. Before we nodded off we prayed for family, friends, and our house purchase. It is good to ask God's blessing for anyone and things going on in our lives. It is good to plant seed and prayer does just that. It is good to give to others, both your thoughts and your time. To feed them when they are hungry, to give a kind encouraging word when they are sad. All the above is part of planting spiritual seeds. We all will reap what we sow eventually. If not in this life certainly in the next.

God designed this world so that it perpetuates itself. That is a big word that means it reproduces, trees make fruit, flowers make seed, birds lay eggs, and people have babies. This same thing happens in everyday life too. Evil begets evil, mean words provoke a mean response, most of the time. Just look at the world around us if you don't think that is so. Anger reaps anger, kindness reaps kindness. Mercy reaps mercy. This reaping process starts in your mind.

Philippians 4:8

New International Version

8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Today look at what is around you, look at your family, your friends, the mountains, the blue sky, the birds, the chipmunks running across your lot. Look at all the good that God has given us and be thankful for it. Compliment someone, give them a great big good morning or a how are ya? Leave someone a tip. Let someone in line in front of you at the Walmart. Then at the end of today, look back and see how the seed you planted has made a difference in your outlook. What kind of seed is now growing in your spirit and your mind?

Proverbs 12: 12-28

12 The wicked desire the stronghold of evildoers,

but the root of the righteous endures.

13 Evildoers are trapped by their sinful talk,

and so the innocent escape trouble.

14 From the fruit of their lips people are filled with good things,

and the work of their hands brings them rewards.

15 The way of fools seems right to them,

but the wise listen to advice.

16 Fools show their annoyance at once,

but the prudent overlook an insult.

17 An honest witness tells the truth,

but a false witness tells lies.

18 The words of the reckless pierce like swords,

but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

19 Truthful lips endure forever,

but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.

20 Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil,

but those who promote peace have joy.

21 No harm overtakes the righteous,

but the wicked have their fill of trouble.

22 The Lord detests lying lips,

but he delights in people who are trustworthy.

23 The prudent keep their knowledge to themselves,

but a fool’s heart blurts out folly.

24 Diligent hands will rule,

but laziness ends in forced labor.

25 Anxiety weighs down the heart,

but a kind word cheers it up.

26 The righteous choose their friends carefully,

but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

27 The lazy do not roast any game,

but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.

28 In the way of righteousness there is life;

along that path is immortality.
